Mountbatten Hotel, Haymarket

We had lunch at the Mountbatten Hotel, our local watering hole which offers above-average pub grub, a buzzy modern atmosphere and is rarely smokey. The food on various occasions has been outstanding value -- their fish and chips are a particular stand-out memory; the fish was sweet and flaky, the batter was light and fluffy and the tartare sauce had a great zing to it.On Mondays, Tuesdays and
