So let's hear what Bobby Jindal has to say about funding for volcano monitoring now

It may seem like continuing to hammer Bobby Jindal is beating a dead horse; that he's blown his 2012 cred for good and what's the point? But if the current reverence among the media and some on the right for the disgraced Newt Gingrich in his revival tour, and the attempt by people like Ari Fleischer to try to erase the last eight years and force an alternate reality in which this country segued directly from Clinton to Obama into the public consciousness, are any indication, this particular deceased horse is likely to rise again at any moment and dance like a Lipizzaner stallion.

So I for one would like to see one of the media idiots who used to point at Bobby Jindal and say the equivalent of "Look! He's young! He's brown! He's the Republican Obama!" ask him if he's changed his mind about the usefulness of volcano monitoring in light of this:
Alaska's Mount Redoubt volcano has begun erupting.

Geologists at the Alaska Volcano Observatory say the volcano erupted three times late Sunday and early Monday, with the largest eruption sending a plume of smoke some 50,000 feet above sea level.

Mount Redoubt is roughly 100 miles southwest of Anchorage.

Geophysicist John Power says "this is a fairly large eruption, close to the larger cities in Alaska."

He says no cities have yet reported any ash fall from the volcano, but noted that it's still early.

More at Mudflats, where Ak Muckraker also has some thoughts on that other supposedly dead horse, Sarah Palin, following in the noble footsteps of Don Young and Ted Stevens, who is now forming her own legal defense fund because of the many ethics complaints against her.
