More on the Florida Diebold hack test

This is absolutely unbelievable:

On Tuesday, Dec. 13, we conducted a hack of the Diebold AccuVote optical scan device. I wrote a five-line script in Visual Basic that would allow you to go into the central tabulator and change any vote total you wanted, leaving no logs. It requires physical access to a machine, which in many counties isn’t very difficult to get -- you have elections offices full of volunteers. In Leon County, they have good policies and procedures in place. But in many counties, where such awareness doesn’t exist, that brings up some serious concerns about someone being able to tamper with the results.

Those of you who aren't programmers may not be aware of how jaw-droppingly irresponsible it is to write voting software that can be hacked with FIVE LINES OF VB CODE.

Most of us use Diebold machines every time we go to the bank. Next time you go to your bank's ATM, check the manufacturer. In all likelihood, it's Diebold. When was the last time you had an error on your bank statement because the ATM was faulty?

I thought so.

And yet, this company is handling YOUR VOTE with machines that can be hacked with FIVE FUCKING LINES OF VISUAL BASIC CODE!
