Around the blogroll and elsewhere

While Smurfville\ gets lazier by the minute, other bloggers are actually writing and reporting the news. I may not be one of them today, but at least I'm not writing posts entitled "Deep Thought" consisting only of "YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH" and then telling other people how to write their blogs. Let's go to some people I haven't linked to for a while.

Juan Cole makes a compelling case that everyone in the world has handed off Israel policy to someone else to the point that the Likud party is setting everyone else's policy towards Israel. This is like everyone handing off U.S. policy to someone else to the point that PNAC is calling the shots. Wait a minute....

The Weblog Awards may be getting all the attention, and the Golden Globes are tonight, but don't forget, The Poor Man's own awards are still open for voting.

Larisa Alexandrovna notes how the Supreme Court is getting ready to hear cases designed to make sure that no one else whose pigmentation is unseemly ever again rises as high as Barack Obama.

Mick Arran at Fact-esque on the CBO's report describing income inequality in this country as "staggering."

What Hoffmania commenter David Aquarius said.

Phil Barron
proudly and defiantly declares himself a card-carrying Butterton.

Steven Reynolds on the successor to Hillary Clinton as the politician most hated by the GOP. (Hint: He's good enough, he's smart enough, and doggone it people like him.

Bill Scher, who also happens to be one of the nicest people in the known universe, has the Gaza edition of the Liberal Oasis Radio Show up.

Emphasis on "twit".

Note to Joe Gandelman. Life is easy. Comedy is hard. Don't quit your day job.

There's only so long you can be a dick without blowback. Anyone who thinks you're going to fight anti-Semitism by being war criminals had better read this post by Monkeyfister. It's hard to argue with.

Susie Madrak notes how it always seems to come down to something George W. Bush fucked up, doesn't it?

And in closing, don't forget the Weblog Awards! If you're not sure who to vote for, please consider stuffing the ballot box for our B@B-endorsed candidates.
