Sunday Jazz Brunch

If you didn't get to see Belà Fleck and the Flecktones here in the New York area this weekend, you really missed something. Last night the show at Bergen PAC was more like the "Victor Wooten and Howard Levy Experience with Special Guest Belà Fleck", so I'm guessing Belà was a bit under the weather, but still -- a great, great show.

If you aren't familiar with this uncategorizable sound, there's no time like the present. You've never heard banjo, or electric bass, or harmonica sound like this.

This is from a show in Peekskill two nights ago. (Your humble blogger was too chicken to turn on the recorder on her Treo for last night's show.)

Belà solo:

Victor Wooten: Best. Bass. Player. Ever. This show from Amsterdam earlier this fall:

And also from the Amsterdam show, Howard Levy, who can make play low notes and high notes simultaneously on a harmonica, make it sound like a fife, a flute, a saxophone, or bagpipes -- and do it all while also playing piano like a virtuoso:
