ABC Investigation Claims Matthew Shepard May Not Have Been Hate Crime Victim
ABC news is preparing an investigative report that claims Matthew Shepard may not have been the victim of a hate crime, but rather a robbery that went terribly wrong.
The report is scheduled to air on 20/20 on Nov. 26. The network has not provided advance copies to the media.

In a press release promoting the program 20/20 says that it will present "surprising revelations, including Laramie's underground world of methamphetamine use that may have contributed to the crime and whether or not Shepard knew his killers."
The ABC promotion says that their first interviews since they were convicted, McKinney and Henderson now claim Shepard's sexuality had nothing to do with the crime.
It's disgusting, but hardly surprising, given the current stench emanating from Washington in which everything they don't like that is not attributable to the 1960's is attributable to gays. The only surprise is that John Stossel isn't behind this one.
UPDATE: A poster at Daily Kos has reprinted Matthew Shepard's father's statement at the sentencing of his killers. It's worth reading before watching ABC try to paint Shepard as a druggie who deserved his fate and therefore we have to get rid of all gay rights.
